Frequently asked questions

What are the differences between Visa D7 and Visa D8?

The key difference and priority rule highlighted is that if you have any form of active employment or business ownership, that will determine your visa type (like the D8) and takes precedence over applying for a D7 based on passive income.

D7 Visa: This visa is for individuals whose income is primarily derived from passive sources. This includes income from pensions, royalties, dividends, capital gains, rental properties, and similar streams. It specifically does not require the applicant to have an active work contract in Portugal.

D8 Visa: This visa is for individuals engaged in active work. This covers people who have a work contract with a Portuguese employer, are registered as self-employed (freelancers/independent contractors), or who own their own company operating in Portugal.

What are the financial requirements for the D8 visa?

The financial requirements for the D8 visa for the year 2025 are as follows:

  1. Monthly Income Requirement: 3,480€ net per month;

  2. Bank account requirement, will be according to the family situation, here is the table with the savings amounts in a Portuguese bank account:

  • One person: 10,440€

  • Couple: 15.660€

  • Couple with one child: 18,792€

  • Couple with two children: 21,924€

The D8 financial requirements are typically updated annually in line with changes to the Portuguese minimum wage, which emphasizes the importance of keeping up to date with the information.

Do I need one year of rental contract?

Yes. As required by AIMA, you must prove a rental agreement of 12 months or more, or a CPCV (Promissory Note) for the purchase of a home.

What are your payment terms?
Our payment terms are simple:
  • 40% deposit to start the services,

  • 30% after receiving your visa approval email from the Consulate and you will also receive a consultation for your AIMA biometrics, (this normally occurs 3/4 months after the application is submitted);

  • and final payment of 30% after the visa decision by the consulate.

We offer several payment methods for your convenience, even if you want to split payments even further.
